About Us

Play the Part Sewing Studio Mission:

Welcome to Play the Part Sewing Studio.  All are encouraged to participate in our sewing classes, no matter your level of experience.  Young students, college students or adults, sewing skills or novice, this is the studio for you.  Our mission is to empowerment through the timeless skill of sewing. Whether you are here to sew for a theatrical production or you just want to learn hands on garment construction, there is a class for you.

Class Style:  Our classes are taught at an easy pace, teaching foundational skills.  The sewing basics are taught, mastered and additional skills will be applied throughout the class we have.  When choosing a class, look at the skill level, then pick you your class.  We are so excited to start you on this journey.

Machine or no Machine :

·        Do you have a sewing machine?  Great, bring it for your class.  We have extensive knowledge in new machines and vintage machines.  We will help you learn to maximize your machine during the class.

·        No Machine, no worries!  We have a machine for you to use and learn on.  Sometimes working with a machine is the best way to learn you likes and dislikes before investing in one.   Lets us help you find a machine that will serve you well.

Class Content:  All classes are scheduled to learn your project during the allotted time slot.  Depending on your learning style, you may finish the project in class, or you may not.  Not to worry, we have open sewing days where you can come and sew with an instructor at your leisure! Finishing a class project during open sew is no additional cost. Check the class calendar for open sewing days .

Cancellation policy :

Classes take time to set up and there are limited class sizes. In consideration to our instructors’ time and efforts, we have a cancellation policy.  If you cancel attendance to a class 7 days  prior to class, you will receive a  refund of class cost minus service fees.

If you cancel a class prior to 72 hours of the time slot, you will receive class credit to use for class at a different time.

Any change to attendance within three days of class time, including “no call, no show” results in forfeiture of the class cost. Please contact us if there are any questions.

Open Sew for Classes:

“Open Sew” is time in the sewing studio with an instructor present.  We offer this option to individuals who have participated in a purchased class and need a little more time to finish their project.  Open sew is also available with a small lab fee for those who haven’t taken our classes.  This is for anyone in need of help with a sewing project.  Are you stuck on a project and want to brainstorm through a problem? Is a pattern giving you trouble with confusing instructions or being hard to fit? We’re here to help.
